Note from volunteer - this boy is very friendly and playful. He doesn't pull on the lead but tends to get under your feet. Very intelligent dog, picks up commands very easily. He caught onto chasing after a toy and bringing it back to me very excitedly.

New initial temperament notes: Toby has spent most of his short life in the pound. His brother was adopted shortly after their arrival and poor Toby spent the next two months alone, wondering why nobody was taking him with them! Toby had clearly missed many meals and spent his first night here scrounging through bags and bins for leftovers. However, he is also very submissive around food and will stop eating if other dogs or people are around. Toby is definitely full of life though, and loves to chase balls and other dogs around the park. He is a little fearful on walks (he had probably never been on a lead before the pound found him) and looks to me for reassurance that he really is out and about and that he is safe. Toby needs a little more socialisation with people and some basic obedience training, but is a very sweet and gentle soul who is just bursting to please you! He is amazing around children and he loves a belly rub and back scratch! He is fairly good at coming when called. Toby has the beautiful cattle dog face and bushy tail with a sleek black coat and stunning bright eyes! Toby will be available shortly (approx 4-6 weeks), but has only been with us for a week so far and needs a bit of TLC before he's ready for his forever home. Toby at this stage is not very good with cats and thinks it's fun to chase them unfortunately.
